My wife and I vacationed in Tampa for a week and spent three of those days on Hubbard's Marina boats. We found the staff and crew members to be outstanding. Helpful, personable, friendly, and fun. Our first trip of the week was to Shell Key. The trip is very short. Even chugging along at minimal speed, it only takes 15-20 minutes. For what it is, it is overpriced. However, it's the only way to get to Shell Key unless you have a boat, so they kind of have a captive audience. Lol. There are snacks and drinks on the ferry for purchase. The captain do their best to spot dolphins, manatees, and other wildlife. The boats are spacious and comfortable. And fun. Shell Key is a nice little place, although we liked Egmont much more. My wife is a sheller and found more/better shells on Egmont Key. There are no bathrooms or other facilities, so plan ahead. We enjoyed our three days with Hubbard's Marina. The only thing that was a little disappointing was how the crew members shamelessly beg for tips. I was going to tip even without the begging. In fact, I would probably tip more if it were more appreciated and less demanded. I dont mind them mentioning tipping, as some people don't think about it and dont realize it is expected. But mention it and move on. Don't stick the buckets in our faces and demand it.

It was our first time over to shell 🐚 island and the experience was Amazing. Captains Laura & Scott are extremely knowledgeable about the island and surrounding areas and gave us all the information we needed for the day. Also captain Laura found some dolphins 🐬 for us to look at on the trip back. Our family will definitely be returning and using Hubbards Ferry. Thank you for the wonderful day.

The captains were very nice and informative! We got there at 10 and left at 2:30, it was the perfect amount of time! I definitely recommend!

I was told just how cool Shell key was by a friend, I wanted to experience it for myself. Took my wife and 3 teenage grandchildren. We saw dolphins on our way out jumping in the wake of another boat. So cool. While on Shell Key we had an awesome time in the calm gulf waters looking for the perfect shells and then when we were headed back we again saw dolphins right at the dock. Our guides, Lauren and Mike - self proclaimed "shell king", we're great! Very safe trip enjoyed by all! Bonus shell jewelry making on the return ride as well. Just great people!

We had a great tour. The crew was very personable and even volunteered to make a necklace with one of your shells. It was a perfect day at the beach. It was a quick boat ride from Fort DeSoto. As mentioned, there are no rest rooms on the island.

Captain Lauren and the Seashell King are the absolute best!! Very funny duo that make the short ride very entertaining. They even have a complimentary jewelry making service for shells you find on the island!
