The Florida Aquarium

The Florida Aquarium offers a unique look at all that swims, floats, and crawls in and around Florida waters and beyond. The 200,000 square-feet attraction is home to more than 9,000 animals. Follow the journey from a single drop of rain to the deep waters where the ocean’s top predators are found. Along the way see river otters, alligators, stingrays, seahorses and pipefishes, fascinating jellies (commonly called jellyfish), lion fish, sea turtles, sharks and more! There is a 500,000 gallon floor-to-ceiling Coral Reef tank, 3 touch pools, plus multiple other exhibits. Watch your children enjoy an outdoor play area (Splash Pad) with wet and dry zones, or see a short film in our 4-D Theater-- all included with general admission! The Florida Aquarium is conveniently located in downtown Tampa, along the trolley line, and between 2 cruise ship terminals.

What a wonderful experience! From the beautiful aquatic life, to the interesting descriptions to the well done habitats, I thoroughly enjoyed this visit to the Florida aquarium! The bird show was fun and informative, the variety of sea life was inspiring, and lunch at the café was delicious! All the employees were super friendly and helpful. Thank you for the fun adventure!

I was very disappointed in the availability of fish experience. We have developed a passion for aquariums across the country and by far this had its fair share of disappointments. There were no tunnels to walk under tanks overhead, there was not a lot of hands on experience for the kids, however, apparently grown adults singing dumb songs is what I paid our entry fees for. Had the singers had animals while performing their bad singing skits then maybe it would not be so bad. But all in all giving this a 2 star is a gift. Also, the pay by plate parking is also something I did not appreciate. Especially for such a subpar attraction. If you can even call it that.

This was our first time and was very surprised. Very clean, well marked with helpful staff. Will go back again. Bird show was awesome. Parking is ridiculous

It was a quick access buying the tickets at TripAdvisor and was able to save a couple of bucks. The place is really nice I think the highlight was the Birds of Flight show. You can't miss the show. All birds were beautiful and the presenter you can see how much he loves the birds and his job. The shark tank was amazing! Get there early to be able to find parking. It takes about 2 hr to walk through the aquarium. This place has a little bit of everything. There's even a splash pad for children and restaurants. You don't have to go out to buy food. It's all in one location. It's worth it!

Really disappointing. So many of the tanks had fish or sea creatures that were not identified. The touch screens (of which there were few) were pointless and boring also. We saw the whole place in an hour and 20 mins. I was shocked that a place that supposedly cares about the environment had an exit to the outside area that had no doors! A/c just blowing outside the entire day! Also this place seemed like a daycare, not much of interest for anyone over 12. Full of strollers and only one elevator. Was shocked at the Penguin “exhibit” which was smaller than a big screen tv. You can’t even call that an exhibit. Absolutely not worth the cost. Parking was not convenient or well labeled. I can’t speak to the food court as we didn’t stop there.

Beautiful place and lots of animals.you need at least 3hrs to view the wetlands alone. You need a whole day to explore the whole aquarium

Met my daughters and granddaughters in Tampa for Mother’s Day. The aquarium was awesome. We all enjoyed out time there. Ordered our tickets ahead of time on Viator. Easy and convenient. Price was very good for a Tampa activity. Recommend.

It was our first time to the aquarium but my in-laws had been several years before. We were all pleasantly surprised with the layout and flow of the exhibits. My mother-in-law doesn't walk well on stairs but there were escalators and elevators plus places where you could sit and rest. The workers all had good know of the animals and exhibits. We were told of new planned exhibits and look forward to a return visit in years to come.
