Continue on Route 35 until you reach the junction with Route 1. Turn left onto Route 1 and continue for about 100 km until you reach Hvolsvöllur. From Hvolsvöllur, turn onto Route 261 which leads you to the Thórsmörk area. Note that the last part of the drive involves crossing rivers, so a 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended for this section. Be prepared for a few river crossings and ensure your vehicle can handle rough terrain.
