Getting There

Car

If you are traveling by car from Chivay (the main town in Colca Canyon), first head southeast on the road towards the town of Cabanaconde. Continue on this route for approximately 30 km until you reach the junction at the town of Cabanaconde. From there, take the road heading toward the Cotahuasi Valley, which will take you through stunning landscapes and small villages. After about 70 km, you will arrive at the entrance to the Reserva Paisajística Subcuenca del Cotahuasi. Make sure to have some cash on hand as there may be an entrance fee for the reserve.
Public Transportation

To reach the Reserva Paisajística Subcuenca del Cotahuasi via public transport, start from Chivay and take a bus to Cabanaconde. Buses run frequently throughout the day and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Cabanaconde, you will need to find a local taxi or a shared taxi (called 'colectivo') that can take you toward the Cotahuasi Valley. Ensure to negotiate the fare beforehand. The distance from Cabanaconde to the reserve is about 70 km, which may take around 2 hours by taxi. Be prepared for some rough roads.
