Cachoeira do Sossego, or Tranquility Waterfall, is a stunning cascade hidden within the Chapada Diamantina National Park near Lençóis, Bahia. The waterfall is reached via a challenging 8 km hike that involves traversing rocky terrain and the riverbed of the Rio Ribeirão. The reward is a refreshing swim in the large natural pool at the base of the 15-20 meter waterfall, surrounded by towering cliffs and lush vegetation.

The final approach to Cachoeira do Sossego is a challenging 8 km hike from Lençóis. The trailhead is located a short distance from the town center. Follow the signs towards Ribeirão do Meio, as the Sossego trail shares the same initial path. After approximately 1 hour, the trail splits; continue towards Cachoeira do Sossego, entering the canyon and following the riverbed. Be prepared to walk over rocks and in the water. Hiring a local guide in Lençóis is highly recommended due to the difficulty of the trail. There are no entrance fees, but guides typically charge between R$240-657 per person depending on the group size.

While a taxi cannot take you directly to Cachoeira do Sossego, it can transport you to the trailhead. Arrange a taxi from Lençóis to the beginning of the Sossego trail. From there, the final approach is on foot. A taxi ride to the trailhead will cost approximately R$70-85. Remember to arrange a pickup time with the taxi driver for your return, as taxi availability at the trailhead is unreliable.
