Car

From Chapada dos Guimarães, head south on MT-251 towards Cuiabá for approximately 12 km. Turn left onto MT-450 and continue for about 17 km until you reach Caverna Aroe Jari. Look for signs indicating the cave entrance. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transport

From the main bus terminal in Chapada dos Guimarães, take a bus to Cuiabá. Upon arriving in Cuiabá, take a taxi or rideshare service to Caverna Aroe Jari on MT-450, approximately 17 km from Cuiabá. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Bus fare from Chapada to Cuiabá is approximately R$20-R$30. Taxi/rideshare from Cuiabá to the cave may cost around R$50-R$70.

Caverna Aroe Jari, also known as Frenchman Cave, is a captivating tourist attraction nestled in the rural landscape of Cuiabá, within the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park. This natural wonder, whose name translates to 'Soul Shelter' in the local Bororo language, is the largest sandstone cave in Brazil, stretching an impressive 1,550 meters. The cave is part of a complex within the Fazenda Água Fria, which includes other notable caves like Kiogo Brado, Pobe Jari, and the Gruta da Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon Grotto). The Aroe Jari cave itself is remarkably flat and adorned with numerous waterfalls, creating a mesmerizing subterranean landscape. Near the entrance, a stream forms the Lagoa Azul, a natural pool with crystalline blue waters reflecting on the cave walls. Note that swimming in the Blue Lagoon is prohibited to preserve its color effect. Visitors can explore unique rock formations, including the Stone Bridge (Ponte de Pedra) and the Pedra do Equilíbrio (Balancing Rock), carved over time.
