    The Skyline Trail parking area is located off the Cabot Trail. From the park entrance, drive approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) north towards Pleasant Bay. Look for the sign indicating the Skyline Trail parking lot on your right. Parking is limited and fills up quickly, especially during peak hours. A park pass is required to access the trail. Daily fees are $9.00 CAD for adults.

The Skyline Trail is one of the most iconic and popular hikes in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia. This relatively easy trail offers breathtaking views of the rugged coastline, lush forests, and the vast Atlantic Ocean. The trail is located on the western side of the Cabot Trail, near French Mountain's summit. The main trail is a 6.5 km (4 mi) return trip, or an 8.2 km (5.1 mi) loop, and is suitable for most skill levels, with an elevation between 290–405 m (950–1330 ft). The hike typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours to complete. The trail is well-maintained, featuring a combination of gravel paths and boardwalk sections. The boardwalk section includes steps at the headland. Staying on the boardwalk is essential to protect the fragile headland plants. As you traverse the trail, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Cabot Trail as it winds its way down the mountain. The viewing decks at the end of the trail provide excellent opportunities for whale watching in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The area is also home to diverse wildlife, including moose, bald eagles, bears, and various boreal birds. To protect the environment and ensure visitor safety, parking at the Skyline Trail is limited. During the peak season, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., the parking lot often fills up, leading to temporary closures. It's advisable to arrive early or later in the day to avoid disappointment.
