Getting There

  • Driving

    From Volos, follow the road towards Portaria. Continue through Portaria and ascend for approximately 5 km until you reach Chania. From Chania, it's another 2 km to Agriolefkes, where the Ski Centre is located. Be aware that during periods of heavy snowfall, chains or snow tires may be required. Parking is available near the center's facilities. Parking is free.

    Take a KTEL bus from Volos to Chania. From Chania, you can take a taxi to the Pelion Ski Centre, which is approximately 2 km away. The bus fare from Volos to Chania is approximately €3-€5. A taxi from Chania to the ski center will cost around €10-€15.

The Pelion Ski Centre offers a unique skiing experience on the mythical Mount Pelion, known as the home of the Centaurs in Greek mythology. Founded in 1967 by the Greek Mountaineering Club of Volos, it's one of the first ski resorts in Greece. The center is located 27 kilometers from the city of Volos, making it an easily accessible destination for a winter getaway. What makes this ski center truly special is its location. From the slopes, skiers can enjoy panoramic views of both the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. On clear days, the vista extends to Chalkidiki and Mount Athos. The Pelion Ski Centre has slopes catering to all skill levels. There are beginner, intermediate, and advanced slopes, as well as freestyle and snowboarding slopes for extreme sports enthusiasts. The center features five lifts, including aerial and surface lifts, ensuring efficient transportation for visitors. In total, there are four slopes: Thetis, Falconera, Panorama and the Amateurs slope. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, visitors can try mountain artillery ski, which takes place on the eastern road and ends up on the beach of Agios Ioannis. During the summer, the resort is popular for mountain biking, enduro, cross rides, and 4x4 activities. The center provides amenities such as equipment rental, ski schools with experienced instructors, cafes, and restaurants. There is also a large parking area. Nearby villages like Hania, Portaria, and Makrinitsa offer accommodation options.
