Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head towards Grundarfjörður, which is on the northern coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. From Reykjavík, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Borgarnes and then follow Route 54 towards Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Continue on Route 54 until you reach the intersection with Route 56, which leads to Grundarfjörður. Once in Grundarfjörður, follow the signs to Kirkjufellsfossar, which is located just a few kilometers from the town center. Look for the scenic viewpoints along the road to capture stunning photos of the waterfall and the iconic Kirkjufell mountain. Parking is available nearby, and there is no fee to access the area.

  For the more adventurous, cycling to Kirkjufellsfossar can be a rewarding experience. Rent a bicycle in Reykjavík and travel towards Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Follow Route 1 and then Route 54.
