Getting There

    From Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading towards Selfoss. Continue on Route 1 until you reach the junction for Route 30 towards Þingvellir. After about 30 km, take Route 36 to Þingvellir National Park. Continue on Route 36 until you reach the junction for Route 37. Follow Route 37 until it merges with Route 1 again. Continue on Route 1 until you reach the junction for Route 35 towards Gullfoss. Follow Route 35 for about 40 km, then turn onto Route F26 (the Sprengisandur route). This is a gravel road, and a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Follow F26 for approximately 60 km until you reach the junction for Route F208. Turn onto F208 and drive until you see signs for Sigöldugljúfur. The scenic canyon will be on your left.

    Take a bus from Reykjavik to Hella or Selfoss. From there, you need to take a connecting bus to Hvolsvöllur. Unfortunately, there are limited bus services to the Highlands. You may need to arrange for a private tour or a taxi from Hvolsvöllur to get to Sigöldugljúfur. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as services may be infrequent and not all buses may go directly to your destination.
