From the main roads in the Highlands, navigate towards Route 1 (the Ring Road). If you are in the northern part of the Highlands, take Route 26 south until it intersects with Route 1. Once on Route 1, head east toward Höfn. After approximately 100 km, you will find the Vatnajökull National Park entrance signs. There are several access points to the park, with the main visitor center located near Skaftafell. The drive offers scenic views of glaciers and mountains, and be sure to stop at viewpoints along the way. Be aware of gravel roads within the park that may require a 4x4 vehicle.
