Walking
From the center of Leh, start at the Leh Main Bazaar. Head south on the main road, passing by the local shops and eateries. Continue straight until you reach the intersection at the end of the bazaar where the road splits. Take the left fork, which leads you toward the direction of the Shanti Stupa. Follow the road for approximately 1 kilometer until you see a sign for Sankar Gompa on your right. The path will lead you uphill to the monastery, which is situated about 500 meters from the main road.

Alternatively, if you are near the Shanti Stupa, you can walk from there. From the Shanti Stupa, head down the hill towards the main road. Turn left on the main road and walk until you see signs indicating Sankar Gompa. The walk is about 1.5 kilometers and takes you through scenic views, so take your time and enjoy the surroundings.

If you are coming from the Leh Palace, exit the palace grounds and head towards the main road. Walk down the road towards the Main Bazaar and then follow the description given from the Main Bazaar. This route is also approximately 1.5 kilometers and will take you through some charming local neighborhoods.
