Walking
From the main market area in Leh, head towards the Leh Palace. Once at the palace, keep walking towards the Namgyal Tsemo Monastery. Continue along the road that's headed east, passing by the Tsemo Monastery. After about 2 km, you will reach the junction where the road splits - take the left fork towards Thiksey. You will see signs pointing towards Thiksey Monastery. The monastery is located approximately 12 km from Leh, and it will take about 2.5 to 3 hours of walking to get there. Enjoy the scenic views of the Indus Valley along the way.

Public Bus
From the Leh Main Market, locate the bus station where local buses depart. Look for the bus heading towards Thiksey or Shey. The bus ride will take about 30 to 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Thiksey stop, you will need to walk about 10 minutes up a small hill to reach the monastery entrance. Make sure to check the bus schedule, as services may not be very frequent.

Shared Taxi
Head to the shared taxi stand near the Leh Main Market. You can find taxis waiting to fill up with passengers. Request a ride to Thiksey Monastery. The cost is generally shared among passengers, making it an economical option. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival, the taxi will drop you off at the entrance of the monastery, which is a short walk from where you will be dropped off.
