If you are starting from the main square of Assisi, Piazza del Comune, head east towards Via Santa Chiara. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via San Francesco. Turn left onto Via San Francesco and follow the road as it ascends. After about 10 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the Papal Basilica and Sacred Convent of Saint Francis, located at Piazza Inferiore di S. Francesco, 2.

From the Assisi train station, exit and turn left onto Via G. Garibaldi. Walk straight until you reach Piazza del Comune. From there, follow the previous instructions by heading east towards Via Santa Chiara, then turning left onto Via San Francesco. Continue walking for about 10 minutes to reach the Basilica.
