Walking
From the center of Matera, make your way towards the Murgia Timone area. A well-marked trail leads from the Sassi di Matera, taking you across the Gravina canyon via a Tibetan bridge. Once across the bridge, ascend towards the Murgia Timone plateau. The Chiesa Rupestre di Madonna delle Tre Porte is located on the southern slope of the plateau. Note that the walk from the Sassi to the church takes approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. There are no entrance fees to access the Murgia Timone area.

Taxi
From Matera city center, a taxi to the Contrada Murgia Timone will take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis are available throughout the city, or can be booked in advance. Expect to pay around €30 for a round trip from Matera to Belvedere Murgia Timone. Parking is available near the Environmental Education Center (CEA) of Jazzo Gattini.

Public Transport
From Matera city center, take a bus towards the Murgia area. Check local bus schedules for the most up-to-date information, as routes and times may vary. The Sassi Line is a special line that allows you to reach the UNESCO world heritage site. A single ticket costs €0.8 per person. A ticket valid for 180′ from the first validation costs €1.00. Tickets can be purchased at bars, tobacconists and affiliated merchants in the city. Alternatively, you can buy the ticket directly on board the vehicle, at the increased price of €1.50 per person ! From the bus stop, follow the signs towards the Chiesa Rupestre di Madonna delle Tre Porte.
