Public Transport
From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line subway towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at Demachiyanagi Station (approximately 20 minutes). Once you exit, head north on the main road (Kamo River) until you reach the intersection. Turn left onto Shinmachi Street and continue until you reach the intersection with Hiyoshi Shrine. From there, take the first right onto Goshonodancho. Hōnenin Temple will be on your left after about a 10-minute walk.

If you are starting from Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion), head down the Philosopher's Path towards Nanzen-ji Temple. After approximately 15 minutes, you will reach the intersection at Eikando Temple. Turn left onto the main road and continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Shishigatani Goshonodancho. Hōnenin Temple is a short walk from there, about 5 minutes down the street on your right.

From Kyoto Station, take bus number 204 or 17 towards Kurama or Hiyoshi Shrine. Get off at the 'Hōnenin-mae' bus stop (approximately 30 minutes). From the bus stop, walk back a few steps to the intersection and turn left onto Shishigatani Goshonodancho. Hōnenin Temple will be on your right after a short walk.
