From the center of San Cristobal de las Casas, get onto the Carretera a San Juan Chamula (Route 199). Follow this road for approximately 10 kilometers until you see signs for Grutas Del Mamut. Take the exit onto the dirt road leading to the caves, which is well marked. The entrance to Grutas Del Mamut will be on your left. Parking is available at the site.

Head to the main bus terminal (Terminal de Autobuses) in San Cristobal de las Casas. Look for a combi (shared taxi) or bus that goes to San Juan Chamula. The fare is usually around 15-20 MXN. Inform the driver that you want to stop at Grutas Del Mamut. The journey should take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive, look for signs leading to the entrance, which is a short walk from where you get dropped off.
