  If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Cusco. Take the Route 28B towards Abancay. This scenic drive takes about 4-5 hours. Once you reach the town of San Pedro de Cachora, follow the signs to the Choquequirao Trek trailhead. Park your vehicle in the designated area. From here, you will need to hike approximately 2-3 hours to reach the first campsite, which is a popular stop along the trek. Ensure you have enough water and supplies for the hike.

• Public Transportation

  For those opting for public transportation, catch a bus from Cusco to Abancay at the Terminal Terrestre. The cost is around 15-20 soles and the journey takes about 4-5 hours. From Abancay, take a local minivan or taxi to San Pedro de Cachora, which will cost approximately 10-15 soles and takes about 1 hour. At San Pedro de Cachora, start your hike towards the Choquequirao Trek trailhead, which is about a 2-3 hour trek to the initial campsite.

  Once you are on the Choquequirao Trek, follow the marked trails leading you towards Wakapunku. The trek from the main campsites typically takes about 4-5 hours, depending on your pace. Keep an eye out for direction signs along the trail. As you approach Wakapunku, you will start to see stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Arriving at Wakapunku will provide you with an incredible view of the ruins and the valley below.
