    If you are at Praça do Comércio, walk to the nearest metro station, Terreiro do Paço (about 5 minutes on foot). Take the Blue Line towards Reboleira and get off at the Baixa-Chiado station. Transfer to the Green Line and head towards Cais do Sodré. Get off at the Cais do Sodré station. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Bairro Alto. Head up Rua do Arsenal, then take a left onto Rua da Conceição and continue straight until you reach Bairro Alto.

  • Tram

    From Praça do Comércio, head to the nearest tram stop at Comércio. Take the famous Tram 28 towards Campo de Ourique. Enjoy the scenic ride as the tram winds through the hills of Lisbon. Get off at the stop at Rua da Conceição. From there, you can walk uphill towards Bairro Alto, which is about a 15-minute walk. Follow Rua da Conceição, and then take a right onto Rua da Rosa, which will lead you into the Bairro Alto area.

    From Praça do Comércio, walk to the bus stop at Rua da Prata. Take bus number 758 towards Campolide. Alight at the stop called Rua da Atalaia. From there, it is a short 5-minute walk to Bairro Alto. Head up Rua da Atalaia, and then turn right onto Rua da Rosa, which will take you directly into the Bairro Alto area.

  • Walking

    If you are close to the Chiado area, you can walk to Bairro Alto easily. Start at the Chiado area and head up Rua do Carmo. Continue walking straight until you reach the top of the hill where you will enter Bairro Alto. This walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes and offers beautiful views of the city.
