St. Paul's Chapel

St. Paul's Chapel, New York City’s oldest public building still in continuous use. Just one block away from the 9/11 attacks, it survived the falling building & debris. St. Paul’s Chapel served as makeshift rescue center. The iron fence became a bulletin board where family members posted notices of their missing loved ones.

The Oculus

The outside structure of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, is the subway entrance and extensive shopping center. The name comes from the strip of windows, or skylights, along the spine of the roof. Oculus is the Latin word for “eye,” which, in architecture, refers to a round or eye-like opening with a view of the sky. Take a look up through the windows, and you’ll see Freedom Tower.

The National 9/11 Memorial & Museum

Enter the 911 Museum with exclusive skip the line access. Admission to the museum is only included if that option is selected.

Cesar was great. He lived in New York 30 years and had great insight to the city. Nice tour of the surrounding area before viewing the World Trade Center grounds. Learned lots of fun historical tidbits.

The tour guide left without us. We arrived in the church place and time for the start but no one around

The tour was very disappointing because my son had just gone on the tour a couple weeks before and raved about it. First of all, your description says it’s approximately 2-4 hours. Our tour was 43 minutes. When it ended after 43 minutes, I asked our guide, Nina, if we had been on the wrong tour because I was expecting it to be quite a bit longer. The response was a simple shrug of her shoulders. I asked a simple question, which she was unable to answer. And there was absolutely no personalization based on her living in New York at the time. I think we could have done a better job on our own, with one of the many online guided walks.

We were booked for our tour on July 26, but because of our flight being delayed we missed the tour but was still charged for the tour because of the 24 hour cancellation policy They accommodated us the next day without a charge. Our tour guide Vivian was absolutely excellent. I highly recommend them.

The guide was very knowledgeable, articulate and flexible. There were some logistical issues brought on by one of our party who was having physical difficulties and the guide did a great job bringing the parts of the group together and making it a successful experience.

Excellent guide. Thorough presentation of the American history. Focusing on the essentials. Learned a lot:

Gail was terrible. So disappointing. We were done in one hour. Minimum information was given. Example: walking by the Bull, we had to ask about it, otherwise, nothing. My son and grandson went on Statue of Liberty tour today. Their guide imparted so much information about 9/11 on that tour that we never got from Gail. So disappointed, as 9/11 tour was the reason we came all the way from California. Time for her to retire.

It was a great jumping off point for our lower Manhattan escapades. We followed this with a ferry ride to Liberty and Ellis Islands, and continued the day by checking out Wall Street, City Hall, and a walking the Brooklyn Bridge. Check out Liberty Bagels too. 😋
