Beautiful mansion, many artifacts from the period. Tour guide were very informative. Grounds of Belmont college are beautiful too

Good tour for something to do. The introduction guide was great and very knowledgeable. After the introduction the rest of the tour is self guided which is cool since you can go at your own pace. Nice place to visit.

The home was absolutely beautiful. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a peaceful stroll through the garden.

It only took us an hour to do this tour. It is good to do on a rainy day. If you buy your tickets through the Trolley company you save $1. Ask for the senior discount if you’re a senior.

This is a beautiful house that is continually being restored. The historical interpreters were great providing a summary of the house history and then answered all our questions while we walked the house.

I think that this would be a great trip for any history buff or anyone who's curious about what it was like to live as a wealthy family around the time of the Civil War. The house is full of authentic, original artifacts and is very well restored. I did a self-guided tour, but it was really more like a guided tour because the staff across the house were all really knowledgeable and would jump at any opportunity to talk about the history of what the rooms were used for, what work goes into restoring and maintaining it, and anything else. It wasn't crowded at all, so you can really get as much or as little "guiding" as you want. In terms of the mansion itself, I wasn't really blown away. Maybe my calibration is just off, but I was actually surprised by how small it was, given that it was apparently the biggest house in the state at the time. Some of the individual pieces of artwork were interesting, but it was nothing beyond what I'd expect for a place that can be called a mansion. But if you have any interest in the history, I'd say this is a great place to go.

I have never been to a museum run by kinder people. I walked up to this beautiful house and was greeted by a woman watering the flowers. She said she didnt work for the house but to ring the doorbell and she figured someone would come help. Sure enough as soon as i rang the bell the kindest woman answered the door. The ticketing process was easy. And the house itself is absolutely stunning with a great story. Especially during Womens History Month.

The house was cool and the outside was gorgeous. The history was somewhat interesting but it’s not the same as visiting a well known figures house. It’s not a bad stop if you’re a history buff

phxrose32

This was a great stop! The tour is self guided but they do give you a short introduction. You can see everything in just an hour but it’s the perfect amount of info and history all in one. Great experience!

Amazing mansion. We love visiting older homes and this was one of the coolest with a very unique history. Take the time to stop by when in TN.
