The de Young Museum in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park is ( in my opinion) a tourist attraction that you should put on your “ must visit” list. Whenever we plan a trip to San Francisco, we include a visit to this spectacular museum. Today in addition to paying for our general admission, we paid extra to see the Irving Penn exhibition, which was well worth the price! The museum has some very classy features including an observation deck with phenomenal views of the park and the city of San Francisco. They have a great cafe with delicious menus and all of their restrooms have fresh flowers, which adds wonderful fragrances while washing your hands!

Unfortunately, I was unable to go to my event because I was sick. That wasn't TripAdvisor's fault. The problem occurred when I tried to cancel my event. I was able to do that up to 24 hours before the event. However, because I had bought the tickets as a guest (I didn't realize that I had an account) TripAdvisor did not have a way for me to cancel. I tried going through the Museum but they did not recognize either of the confirmation numbers that were provided. If I had signed in prior to purchasing the tickets presumably, I would have been able to cancel through my account. I say presumably because there is no way for me to know whether that's true. However, regardless of how I made the purchase, I should have had some way to cancel. Not a whole lot of money but it ended up being wasted none the less. So, No, it was not a good experience.

Museum was great but Tuesday was a free day at the museum. First Tuesday of the month is free admission. We paid admission through this site and feel like we were taken advantage of so we paid for the museum of a free day no refund option.

I really enjoyed this museum. It had a well curated collection tips of art. The sculptures outside the cafe were amazing. Well worth $20

We were in SF for a short stay and put a visit to the De Young on the top of our priority list so we could see the Kehinde Wiley show. It was amazing. Outstanding, beautiful, moving and emotionally inspiring.

Ansel Adam exhibit absolutely stunning and the historical context very illuminating. Unfortunately it was the last day for this show.

I hate there because the security guard standing at lobby. When I wear backpack entering to admission desk. A black man is a security guard say something loud to my direction, I didn't aware he is talking to me. He said something again and looking at me, I knew this time he is talking to me but I didn't get what he is saying. Suddenly, he shout " off!" loudly, I was scared of him. I walk towards him, I tried to understand what he said. Finally, I get it I need to put down the backpack under my waist. I was tourist from Asian, my English is not as good as American. If I didn't get your meaning, you have to be patient or use body language to make your guests to understand but not shouting makes every people looking at me. Also, the word "OFF" is very impolite wording. Actually, at that time, there is lobby area, I didn't understand why need to put down the backpack under waist. The security guard should remind guest in front of each exhibits room, not lobby area. The security guard also not telling me there is a free storage to keep my backpack. Is it not your job? But I thanks the sweet lady sitting on admission desk telling me that.

The Kehinde Wiley exhibit was astonishing. I knew his portraits it not the sculpture or paintings of this scale. I told my SF family, who are very aware of SF museums and especially yours that if they only went to one more exhibit in all of 2023, this is the one to see. It was a revelation to me.

The ticket price was a great value. The Ansel Adams photos alone was an awesome exhibit. The flower arrangement exhibition with the art made the experience interesting.
