Manoa Falls Trail

Manoa Falls Trail is 1 of 2 trails that we are offering. We have the permit from DLNR to hike on 7 trails. Manoa Falls Trail is one of the most popular trails for tourists because it goes through the jungle to a waterfall. That means that this trail will have a lot of other people on it. Our other trail, the Kalawahine Trail is a lot more quiet. Manoa Falls Trail is about 1 mile each way and is in Manoa Valley which famously gets a lot of rain, so it will probably rain on you at some point during the hike. The trail has recently been worked on so there is more gravel than mud compared to how it used to be. Sometimes the amount of water on the waterfall is disappointing, but the hike through the jungle to get there is still worth it. Let us know which trail you want to do so that we can get the permits in advance, Manoa Falls Trail or the Kalawahine Trail.

Kalawahine Trail

Kalawahine Trail is 1 of 2 trails that we are offering hikes on. We have the permit from the Department of Land and Natural Resources to give hikes on 7 trails. Kalawahine Trail is an easy trail with no difficult inclines. The trail starts about 1500 feet up the mountain but we drive up to get there, and then the trail goes straight back into the forest. It's a dirt walking path. This trail has pink guava and strawberry guava when in season, lots of different plants, and views of the Leeward side of the island toward Pearl Harbor. Along the trail, there are layers of cinders showing the eruption of a crater that is above the trail. There are lots of birds along the trail such as the White-rumped Shama. This is a very peaceful trail and you will only occasionally come across other people. This trail is dryer than the Moana Falls Trail. This trail is 1.5 miles each way, but we can turn back at any time. This is one of my favorite trails. Kalawahine means Day of the Woman.
