Upper Gold Camp Road

(Pass by)

The Gold Camp Road Tunnels were constructed during the 1800s to help support the ongoing Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. Connecting Cripple Creek and Colorado Springs, a railway was laid down on the route that is now Gold Camp Road. Known as the “Short Line,” train service began in 1901, with 200 freight cars used to haul minerals, supplies, and people throughout the area. The supposed haunting of the Gold Camp Road Tunnels has beckoned the curious to investigate for decades, with many urban myths surrounding the “abandoned” looking tunnels. Perhaps the best-known myth about the area relates to the 1988 tunnel collapse and claims that a bus full of school children became stuck and killed during the accident. While there is no record of such an incident occurring, some visitors of the Gold Camp Road Tunnels have claimed to have left the area with tiny handprints on their cars from the spirits of the deceased.

Amazing experience with an amazing tour guide. Tons of fun even for a beginner who has never mountain biked! The guide made us feel safe and allowed us to choose if we wanted to attempt the harder trails or not. The views were incredible and so worth it. Overall a great time and would do again/recommend to others.

Second time riding with this outfit and once again they didn't disappoint. I was a little hesitant with the terrain being dirt/sand and stones which isn't my typical paved road type of ride. Figured I give it a go since my husband likes these types of rides. So glad I did it because our guide, Mark, was so patient and made me feel at ease within a few minutes of riding. The bikes are top quality and do really well on this terrain. Mark is super knowledgeable about the area and admires/respects it. The ride is pretty much downhill the entire time, with some fun tunnels thrown in along the way. The best part for us was the peacefulness and the beauty that surrounded us throughout the tour - and of course our fun guide!

Our travel guide, David, made the experience so fun and memorable! Very knowledgeable about the area and history and super skilled on the mountain bike. He talks you through the trip and makes sure everyone is comfortable. This ride has something for everyone and is good for various experience levels.

Our guides were fantastic! This was by far the best tour we could find becase: - It was all downhill - The trails are challenging but not too hard (they are wide most of the way) - The guides had water and supplies and were beside us the entire way - You ride all the way from the top of the mountain back to the bike store itself (very convenient)

We took out cross country team to do some altitude training. David and Luke did a fantastic job with our kids. They were able to let the more experienced riders stretch their horizons and the slower more careful riders felt supported too. They were respectful, helpful, and the kids enjoyed every second. Thank you for making our trip memorable.
