Great place to visit in Chattanooga right by the Tennessee Aquarium. Very fair pricing for a place it’s easy to spend a few hours in. If you want to learn about the history of the Medal of Honor and many of its recipients then this is a must see.

Just to learn the origin of the MOH is important for everyone, but especially we veterans. I was exceptionally pleased to speak at length with Stephen, then encouraged to join a group of young students (on the outskirts of the area) during a question and answer session with MOH recipient Ryan Tipps. I am retired AF and after a group picture with the kids, I got to introduce myself. I joked with Ryan about a comment he made to the kids. After just a couple short minutes, Ryan thanked me for MY service. After an awkward comeback of something like “and to you”, I expressed I’d been wanting to do something. I took a step back and rendered a proper, sharp salute. Without hesitation, Ryan came to attention and returned the salute. All military should know that regardless of rank or position, you render a salute to any recipient of the MOH. So, to be able to look this man in the eye and salute him even if I’m retired and in civilian clothes, what a honor and thrill for me. I love that recipients do frequent the heritage center. One of the kids asked Ryan if anyone has tried to steal the medal. With great humor, Ryan reached in his coat pocket to “check”. Then, it was an absolute thrill to watch him loosen his shirt and clip the medal around his neck, adjust his shirt and gathered the two classes of kids for a picture. Ryan gave each of the kids his personal Medal of Honor coin. I was jealous! During the visit, the person who welcomed me was so gracious! Then, when upstairs at the Doss exhibit, a gentleman who was performing a mix. task was equally eager to discuss more, in depth, about Desmond Doss. That was also a thrill. I will return with a friend from GA who has met several WWII era recipients, who will be equally blown away. Keep it up! MARK J TURCOTTE, Lt Col USAF, Retired

This is a new museum (2020) and very well organized as both my husband and father-in-law are veterans! We all enjoyed it very much! The Volunteers whom work the museum are very well informed and helpful. Take time to watch the short intro video as it brought tears to our eyes! As we seem to have lost our patriotism and virtue, the stories contained bring reality to those whom take the time to read and enjoy the numerous stories of those whom sacrificed so much! Hats off to you all for a well thought out and wonderful exhibition museum to understand what a Medal of Honor truly means!

This was a girls weekend and many of us are veterans, so we wanted to see the museum. Extremely well done and it was nice to hear the stories of a lot of the local Medal of Honor recipients and the history behind the medal itself. So glad that this important history of our nation is being captured. All young people, especially students should see this fine museum and hear the stories that help shape our country.

Spring Break with my 75 year old Vietnam Veteran husband trip to Chattanooga. I bought tickets in advance. Nice location with convenient parking. The information and exhibits were put together well. Very informed volunteer who was actually a veteran. Not the best day to go, there was a 3rd grade field trip there. My husband and myself ended up feeling "not so great" about the experience. I was glad to see the good intentions of sparking kid's interest in history. However, we truly felt out of place there. The needs of the kids tour far outweighed any experience we hoped to have. We couldn't listen to exhibit recordings, no matter what setting my husband tried to put his hearing aides on. It was frustrating. I guess we came off as grumpy old people because the Director of the center said "barking orders" at the kids wasn't productive and they should be allowed to experience the exhibit however they were able to connect to it. We just thought treating the place like a trampoline park wasn't exactly fair to the rest of us. Rolling on the floor, doing cartwheels etc...sure it's nice to be free of the classroom setting. I am not so old that I don't remember being a kid, but I was also taught respect for the place I was visiting and other people who may also be there, that the trip wasn't all about "me". The Director was highly educated and experienced and made sure that we knew it. He made sure that we knew everyone was welcome there to experience the exhibits "however" worked for them. Truthfully that's not exactly fair. Our experience was overrun. Great place for kids to experience, explore and be free. The timing made it not so great for an old hard of hearing vet and his wife that ended up crying (me). I felt the entire sacrifice of real human beings was being transformed into something for entertainment purposes rather than given the respect deserved.

Excellent tour guides. Well done Museum. We loved the integration of them and now and the level of detail used to tell each story.

Very well organized and informative museum. A docent guides us through the first part of the exhibit and showed us how to use some of the onscreen displays that are also available online to access more detailed information and stories. Many inspirational stories from the history of medal honorees and some inspirational on screen interviews. This would be a great place to take preteens and teens to explain the true meaning of heroism.

A museum such as this is essential to all who need to learn about the formation of our nation. These individuals, who were awarded the Medal of Honor are but a few of the thousands of men and women who have contributed to the freedom that we enjoy here in the United States. As passé as it may sound, "Freedom is not Free." There are too many individuals today that do not have an appreciation for what we have here today. I highly recommend this museum to anyone who is interested in learning who these individuals are and what they did to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

We saw an ad for the National Medal of Honor Heritage Museum at the hotel we were staying at, and decided to go before we left Chattanooga. It's a very nice museum, well kept, well organized, with very nice exhibits.

The tour was self guided. There were short videos throughout telling you more about what qualifies you for the Medal of Honor. The stories shared there were very detailed in the person's life who received the medal. You could spend as little or as much time as you would like. My mom and I were there for about 2 hours. We would do it again.
