My boyfriend and I enjoyed the experience of learning about the North American grey bats and getting to see them flying around the kayaks after sunset. The tour guide Luke was very knowledgeable of the wildlife and the history of the lake which was awesome to learn about.

We were impressed from the point of booking, and then the experience blew us away. We are veterans in the outdoor leadership and service industries. It can be tough, at times, to find a place where the two meet. Zach was extremely helpful and responded promptly when we reached out via e-mail to ask questions. We booked over a month ahead to make sure we got a spot on a Thursday evening. We were shocked when we checked in at the launch site that there was only one other couple with us. Some tour companies cancel when enough participants don’t book, but we felt really accommodated. Our guide, Anne, texted us an hour beforehand to touch base and send us a pin for the launch site. Anne was professional but approachable, affable, engaging, and knowledgeable. Towards the end of the excursion she offered us cans of bubbly water—a small gesture, but impactful and refreshing. The tour was fun and peaceful. We learned about unfamiliar animal species and knew things about species we’ve known since childhood. We came at a time of year when there are fewer bats, but the experience didn’t disappoint. Thousands of bats darted from the tree line along the cave’s shore and gracefully darted above, between, past, and all around us. There were pauses where all we heard was the bats’ echolocating chirps and the water’s movement. The whole experience was poetic; we were moved.

A group of friends and I (mostly mid-20s - mid 30s) went on this tour. Zach and Luke did a great job. It was interesting to hear the historical and bird/bat facts! The kayaking was a lot of fun and pretty chill. I’d highly recommend this tour!

The bat experience was just wild. It was a beautiful evening to watch the thousands of bat pour out of Nickajack Cave. The equipment was in great shape. The guides never appeared hurried. I will take other family members very soon.

Zack and Luke were great. They put safety first and made sure all our life jackets fit well and we were comfortable with the kayaks and gave us an inservice before launching us into the water. We saw lots of bats and enjoyed every minute.
