My husband and I booked a Viator company “Oahu Deluxe Grand Circle Tour” which showed us so many interesting and fun things in Oahu and surrounding areas. We grabbed a quick breakfast at Starbucks (not our favorite food by far, but they were open and we were hungry). Thank goodness we ate because our tour was very long and our 7:15 am pick up time meant lunch was a long way off. Our tour guide and driver was Lani and she is “Kanaka Maoli”, which means an Indigenous or Native Person”. She was obviously very proud of her heritage and the beauty of Oahu. Lani picked us up at our hotel first and following that we picked up a man and his daughter who were nice but chronically late at every stop. Near the end of the tour it was drizzling rain off and on but we made it up to the top at Waimea Valley to witness the waterfall-fed pool. Lani had so many interesting and inspiring things to share regarding so many stops we made, including: viewing Diamond Head, Nu’uanu Pali lookout, the Halona Blowhole (where we saw water spraying out of the blowhole several times), Waimea Valley (with the beautiful waterfall) and the beautiful North Shore. We also visited the Dole Plantation and tried the famous Dole Whip, which was very yummy. We were able to stop and see the Japanese-style Byodo-In Temple and hit the gong one time for good luck. My husband took his shoes off so he could walk through the temple and say a prayer. Near the end of the tour it was drizzling rain off and on but we made it up to the top at Waimea Valley to witness the waterfall-fed pool. Next to the Dole Plantation is a small working plantation called Helemano. This lovely property sits quietly next to Dole, which is not-surprisingly a commercial explosion of Dole products at very hefty prices. Helemano is a working plantation that houses developmentally disabled adults who work the plantation and some of the residents have learned to work at several jobs in the kitchen and dining area so they are able to prepare and serve meals to the other residents. Other resident like to work in their gardens where they grow their own produce to help support themselves. I found it very touching that these people have been given a chance to be productive with some dignity. Pre-covid they had provided reasonably priced lunch buffets for around $10. They also used to sell inexpensive items in a small gift shop. In summary, this tour was well worth the cost and most of that was due to having an excellent tour guide/bus driver. Lani was so fun to be with and she had so much informative facts and stories to share with us. I would recommend this tour and especially this tour guide 1000%.

A lot of rain, roads closed, however, none of this was at the fault of our driver, Wes. He made the trip so enjoyable with all the knowledge of everything that was going on during our trip. Road closure due to flooding but he turned it around on a 2 lane road and did an excellent job. He talked nearly entire day and was fantastic.

We enjoyed the tour, even though it rained 2/3rds of the day. We saw the roads flood and Wes’s amazing driving skills 🤩 Wes was informative on some interesting facts and some tales. Wes made the day and tour enjoyable.

Wes was an amazing tour guide. He kept us entertained at all times. He rescued the day when flash floods came and was able to turn around and find an alternate route. I felt the flash flood was part of the excitement.

Educational, fun, was able to see many sites in one day. The driver, Wes, did a great job getting us around in a deluge of rain. Was accommodating to all passengers

Perfect way to see a lot of the island and it’s beauty. Our guide/driver was knowledgeable and entertaining. His name was Mike! The bus was comfortable and so nice not to have to worry where we were going and how best to get there!

lynne_sayers

Our driver Mo was excellent funny and very knowledgeable. However this is only a snapshot tour with not much time to enjoy the sights. Personally we would have preferred not to visit the Dole plantation as there was no time for the maze or tram. Plus the next stop was lunch so we didn’t want to eat, 40 mins way too long. An hour in Haleiwa was only just enough time to eat! “Passing by” is just that not slow enough to take a quick snap. Disappointing.

The trip was fantastic. Ken was very informative and entertaining. Something we will remember for a very long time to come.

Kimokeo was a excellent driver and a wonderful storyteller. He made the tour fun. We saw many beautiful and interesting sites around the entire island.
