I stumbled upon Ryan's tours while searching for a tour that included a mix of birding, photography and nature during my trip to Denver. Ryan did not disappoint! He is very knowledgable, and was able to spot many species and I got to take many excellent photos. He customized the tour to our interests, and we even had the chance to see two great horned owl nests with chicks, humming birds, bald Eagle, Golden eagle, and Bullock Oriole ! He showed us some great spots while giving interesting details about Denver and the surrounding wildlife. We had a great time and would definitely book with him again.

BOOK THIS TOUR! We had a great time with Ryan the Birdman. This is not your normal scripted tour. There is no stop 1, stop 2, stop 3.... Since this is a private tour, Ryan can ad lib to your liking. On our tour we saw Moose, Bald Eagles Golden Eagles, Horned Owls, Elk, Wild Turkey, Prarie Dogs, and more. There is no way we would have saw the things we did without Ryan. He would be driving and then just pull off the road, pull out his binoculars and call us out to look at some incredible animal. I cannot recommend this tour enough. I want to thank Ryan for his persistence, his sense of humor, and his expertise during our birding adventure. Weather forced us to play it by ear during our tour, and we made the best of it and had some fantastic birding. The tour took us into the high country for mountain birds, and Ryan knows the places to go. The highlight was finding the white tailed ptarmigan on Loveland Pass. You can hardly beat that, but that was just the beginning, and the tour got better from there. When snow closed the passes, we looped into Wyoming and had a great time chasing longspurs and sage thrashers. You absolutely can't go wrong with Ryan. It was the best guided birding experience I have had in a long time. Thanks!!

My husband and I were in Denver for a Roller Derby tournament and decided to spend a few extra days to take advantage of the beautiful scenery in the area! Ryan was a fantastic guide from start to finish!!! He was quick to communicate, professional, personable, organized, welcoming, and just over all passionate about getting people outside and intune with nature! We booked a full day tour that acted as an introductory bird watching trip and also as a fantastic way to get us sea-level people active and acclimated to the altitude! Our first stop was on the side of the road where Ryan pulled over to set up a telescope to view a Great Horned Owl nest with two chicks in it! He also provided binoculars, showed us how to use them, and introduced us to different birdwatching apps! Ryan has such a vast knowledge of the wildlife and geological history of the area and was able to present it in a way that was incredibly engaging, informative, and entertaining! We made several stops along the way to Rocky Mountain National Park to view Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, Bighorn Sheep, and Elk. We stopped in RMNP for a great lunch that Ryan had prepared before heading to the frozen-over Bear Lake for a hike in the snow! Afterward the tour, Ryan stayed in touch to see how my derby games went, and he sent us all the information of the wildlife we encountered and photos from the day! Ryan is not only a brilliant guide, he is a funny and friendly person who made an 8 hour day fly by! We had an incredible experience with Ryan and his knowledge and patience with all my questions really made it a worthwhile unique experience and it was absolutely the highlight of our Denver trip. I would absolutely travel with Ryan and Birding Man Adventures again!

Ryan was amazing! From the moment we met him he made us feel so at home. He took us to see nesting bald headed eagles, we walked on a frozen lake amongst other things. The entire tour was informative and entertaining. My 5 and 7 year old girls had a blast with Ryan. The tour was appropriate for kids and adults. I will highly recommend !

Ryan is the best! I was so lucky to get connected with him when the group hike I originally booked got canceled. He went above and beyond and I got really lucky to get such a good deal for the price he asked for for a private tour, booked at the last minute. He picked me up from my hotel in downtown Denver, which was pretty out of the way for him coming from Arvada. He drove us the ~2 hours to the park entrance, where we saw the first wild Caribou I’ve ever seen. They were enormous, and he explained how their antlers grow back each year, adding a new tine with every year and grow up to an inch a day! He got us into the park using his America the Beautiful pass, and checked with the ranger which trails were safe and which were avalanche-prone, a dedication to safety and preparedness that I really appreciated. He was very prepared through the whole experience, asking me during both our initial call and on the ride over about my hiking experience/level of comfort, how far I wanted to go, the views I liked to see, and how much nature education I was interested in. He also taught me so much just on the car ride over about the history and geography of the area, and the wildlife native to the Park. He made sure to check in with me about my equipment that I had ahead of time, and was so kind to bring lunch, snacks, and hot drinks for both of us! We parked at the Bear Lake parking lot and hiked up through Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lakes. I highly recommend bringing microspikes if you have them. Going in February, we definitely needed them, but Ryan told me the trails have snow through much of the year; if you aren’t sure, he’ll remind you/ask you, he is super prepared. Along the trail, he continuously kept an ear and eye out for interesting species - seeing the Clark’s Nutcracker, and learning the difference between spruces, pines, and firs were some of my personal favorites, but he is so crammed full of knowledge and is so observant to the birdlife around him that you’ll definitely see species you won’t have seen before. He brought extra binoculars for me to use on the hike, which really came in handy checking out a distant American Dipper we saw near a deep pool along the Alluvial Fan at our second stop. He also was very conscious of great views, and was a great photographer/director, always angling the camera and having me stand in the right position to get the best shot. Ryan is awesome - extremely laid back while simultaneously very dedicated to his job and providing you with a great experience and wonderful memories. The fact that he brought binoculars, a vegetarian lunch for me, a camping stove to make hot water, and extra hats/coats/equipment/water for me shows how prepared he is to go above and beyond. He knows the trails well, including the traffic levels at different times of year, and has such an incredible amount of natural knowledge (tip: ask him about his PhD project in Panama). He’s such a friendly and personable guy, and was very flexible and willing to change up the plan based on my hiking preferences. I can’t recommend his tour enough - if I come back to Denver, I will definitely be hitting him up again. Thank you Ryan!

I took the full day tour of the Rocky Mountain National Park with Ryan. Ryan is a terrific guide and he is very known about birds. I had a fantastic day and spotted a lot of birds, wildlife and Ryan knew that I was a skater so told me to bring my skates and found a nice frozen lake that I could skate on. We had some great conversations and I would love to do another birding tour with Ryan during another season in Colorado or somewhere else. I loved that he was flexible and matched his enthusiasm of birds with my knowledge. I’m more a beginner birder and come more from a photography interest than science. But he was very accommodating. I’ve shared some photos that was taken on my iPhone but Ryan took some shots with his great camera and if you don’t have a telephoto camera yourself you will get some great photos from Ryan. Thank you Ryan. See you birding next time!

I booked the birdingman adventures after reading so many amazing reviews and it was totally worth it. I wanted my first National Park experience to be a memorable one and it totally was. Not only did I enjoy the hike by itself, I acquired a new fascination with birds in general. Ryan was patient and extremely knowledgable. He pointed out all the birds, animals while on the hike, provided interesting titbits about colorado and Rocky Mountains, answered all my questions and was fun to hangout with. I am glad I did not book one of those big group adventure packages because I wouldn’t have had as much fun and learning through that. The most memorable part was definitely when the little mountain chickadee landed on my foot. Icing on the cake was definitely the detour we took to find a quiet place to enjoy the silence.

We highly recommend Ryan Dibala’s Birding Man Adventures to anyone interested in seeing birds in Colorado. We had two days to spend in Rocky Mountain National Park, and wanted to hire a guide, to maximize what we could see in the time that we had. With his expert knowledge of local birds & other wildlife, local knowledge & connections, and focus on conservation, Ryan was just who we were looking for. Ryan researched where birds were being seen to plan a good route, picked us up at our hotel, took us to hotspots where we had some great opportunities to view and photograph birds (7 lifer species for us!), kept checklists of all the birds we saw at each location, took photos, and packed a delicious, healthy lunch that we enjoyed midday. With Ryan doing the driving, and keeping the checklists, we were free to focus completely on the birds. Ryan shared eBird checklists and photos with us before we had even arrived back home. It was a great pleasure to spend two days of amazing birding with Ryan. We would definitely go birding with Ryan again, and would be interested in joining one of his upcoming birding trips, such as his Colorado Grouse Tour or Ecuador Tour.
