Southern-most mission of the five in San Antonio, this location is the start of your tour and will lay the foundational context for the rest of the tour. You will walk into the interior of this mission, hear interesting information about its' inhabitants and the Friars, as well as, the construction and layout of the mission. You will also have an opportunity to walk into the church that looks as it did in the 1700's.

You will visit a small museum that has wonderful displays of materials used by the inhabitants, the use water for agriculture, among interesting other information.

Mission San Jose

The "Queen of the Missions" is the largest and most renovated mission in San Antonio. This huge mission is arguably the most important here because of the massive amounts of food that was cultivated and shared with the smaller missions. Here, you will walk into one of the apartments of the inhabitants, experience the Convento where the Friars and soldiers slept, walk through the beautiful domed church, and see the gorgeous facade of the church while you hearing stories of its' creation and renovation. And, of course, see and hear all about the iconic Baroque architectural piece known as the Rose Window. This stop includes a few minutes to peruse the gift shop as well.

You will see some other architectural highlights here, but those a secret and I can't wait to tell you all about them!

King William Historic District

You will be guided through a portion of the King William District and and see and hear about the impressive homes of many German entrepreneurs from the late 1800's. You will see eight homes and be given deep and interesting information on their original owners, how they contributed to San Antonio, and how the neighborhood became what many call the "nicest neighborhood in San Antonio".

Historic Market Square

You will hear the history of this important market place from the 1700's to present day. Hear stories about the Chili Queens and different immigrant groups that sold good here at Market Square. You will have time to visit a store with authentic Mexican crafts and goods, and get a pastry at the iconic MiTierra panaderia.

Japanese Tea Gardens

The missions and more tour was fantastic. Our family of 4 (kids 10 & 12) enjoyed each different aspect of the tour from the historical mission visits, the beautiful mansions, the market and the new trendy retail and restaurant area. It must be difficult to give out-of-towners an understanding of the history of a city from the beginning to modern times, but Michael does it effortlessly, with plenty of humor, and delivers it all with a high quality, VIP feel. This is not the kind of tour where you wonder how much of the spiel is fictional—Michael has clearly done his homework and is extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Michael was recommended by Michelle from Hotel Emma and we were not disappointed. Not only did he take us to the missions and other places worth visiting, he explained how the missions came to exist and how San Antonio became what it is today in an easy to understand manner. As he used to be a history teacher and a stand up comic, he was able to explain a long winded history in an entertaining manner so it helped us remember and put a picture in our heads of how life was back then. We came out of the tour learning so much yet not feeling so tired or overloaded with too much information.

Absolutely fabulous tour! While in San Antonio for business had the opportunity to spend the afternoon touring with Michael. He was both informative and entertaining! So personable and made the history come to life. As he shared cultural and historical information his love for the topic and area was evident! Would definitely recommend!

Great tours begin with a great tour guide . . . and THIS is a great tour. San Antonio ProTours owner tour guide/ owner Michael Robinson gets it done! Michael's background includes time as an actor, a stand up comic and a middle school history teacher. What a great combination for a tour guide! He excels in presentation - offering a great mix of humor and history along the way. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the area are icing on the cake. Michael made an effort to learn about each member of our group leaving us feeling like we were talking with an old friend rather than a stranger we only recently met. He remained flexible during our time with him tailoring the tour to the needs of the group. At the end of the tour, he suggested a lunch spot . . . and drove us and shared a great meal with us as well. The content of the tour was perfect providing just the right amount of time at each mission, wonderful commentary and great insight at each stop. In addition to the missions, we were able to see some other unique spaces as well such as historic Market Square, a beautiful historic neighborhood and the the Japanese Tea Gardens. Our entire group felt the tour was worth every penny. I can't imagine any tour company or tour guide doing this tour or any tour any better. No need to look around, Michael Robinson of San Antonio ProTours is your guy.

Michael was an excellent guide for our food tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of San Antonio and entertaining. We started with appetizers in the Pearl District and had a walking tour. Next we went to a Mexican restaurant which unfortunately the service was very slow but Michael tried to accommodate us after dinner due to the time. We went to the light show which we loved and then attempted dessert but it was late so just went for drinks to end the evening. I would suggest ordering ahead at the restaurant so there is time for the rest of the evening but we still enjoyed
