I was a little disappointed in this tour to be honest. Apparently tour departure and arrival times vary everyday depending on the mood of the tour guide "mamma." Online, most tours claimed to depart Las Vegas at 12 noon. However, we learned the night before we had to leave by 9am. The itinerary also seems to fluctuate, which is evident in the many reviews on TripAdvisor from passengers who all had different experiences. For starters, "mamma" spent the first part of the trip rapidly talking about her past life in San Francisco and all the tours she's given. Her rapid speech and reckless driving was a little concerning for passengers. There were several times she drove on the wrong side of the road, even when going around turns! She even stopped talking at times to take personal calls. One of the first stops on the tour is a winery at 10:30am. Why we stopped there so early to drink wine was a mystery to the passengers!? The winery portion of this trip only lasted about 1 hour. Honestly, it's a completely unnecessary part of this tour and did not contribute to the Death Valley experience at all. After the winery, "mamma" takes you on winding roads through Death Valley at approx. 100mph with a full belly of wine. Many passengers got sick and complained of her driving, but she laughed it off. She asked, "Do you want me to go 10mph?" in a very sarcastic tone. The first stop inside Death Valley is Dante's Peak. "Mamma" asked us if we wanted to climb a very steep peak to take pictures at an overlook. I glanced over to other members of my group to see if they were interested given their fear of heights. "Mamma" rolled her eyes thinking we were delaying the tour and said we only have "10 seconds" of her time to decide. Needless to say, we had no interest in following her up the peak so we stood in the parking lot and waited on her to conduct a photo shoot with other passengers. Other stops inside Death Valley included Zebribski's Point and Artist's Palette. "Mamma" spent hours yelling at us to keep up while hiking and pose better for her pictures. She was very forceful and demanding during photography. I wish I would have known she planned to take over 1,500 photos of us that day because I would've dressed nicer. By the time we got to Badwater Basin it was completely dark. You do not get a photo in front of the famous sign like advertised in the photos on Tripadvisor. "Mamma" asked us to walk across the salt flats in complete darkness because she claimed her eyes could lead us in the dark better than using flashlights. The stargazing was fun, but only lasted maybe 1.5 hours? We saw a few shooting stars and watched "mamma" spend the majority of the time photographing other members of the tour group. We got 5mins of her time during stargazing for photos. She could tell my party was pretty disappointed in the tour, so I think she was avoiding us at this point. The only reason I gave this tour 2 stars is because of the experience my family had in the national park when "mamma" wasn't around . I would like to return to this park in the future with a different tour company. In the future, I would rather have a respectful tour guide that drove safely. The photos we received of my family looking sweaty after hours of hiking was not worth the trouble of dealing with "mamma."

Mama was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about Death Valley and took us to all the best viewing areas. Lots of fun!

The Death Valley VIP tour in January was one of the coolest tours I have been on and I would definitely attribute it to our tour guide, Lankun (aka Mama). Mama was knowledgeable, entertaining, organized, and took beautiful photos of my family, which I really appreciated because a selfie stick just could not do this landscape justice. We had plenty of water to drink along the way as we went to 5 different look views in the park, Dante’s peak, Zabriskie point (badlands), Artists Palette, Badwater Basin and a final stop to gaze at the stars (we saw the Milky Way). I would absolutely recommend booking this tour while staying in Vegas, because the views are magnificent and this truly a one of kind experience.

Tour company was very accommodating when it was only my partner and I that booked. We were able to skip the winery and go to the park early and visit some spots. Lankun was very informative and took amazing pictures as well. I highly recommend her for tours. We were able to do a bonus spot at the Golden canyon it was beautiful.

As I was looking for something spectacular to do for my 60th birthday, I came across this tour. I had been to Death Valley during the day three years ago and the idea of seeing the stars at night was something that I could not pass up. Mama Lankun was our guide for the day, and she was AWESOME! It was clear that she took time to learn the history of Death Valley and the surrounding areas. She knew when sunset was coming and where we should be in the park to get the best views of the sun setting and then of the stars. The stargazing part far exceeded my expectations. Jupiter was out (which was awesome) and we saw the milky way. The photos that she took made the trip even more memorable. My older brother was with me, and he was more impressed than I was. He even said that "it is a trip he will always remember". It was the perfect way to spend my 60th birthday.

I booked a Death Valley tour with Lankun, aka Mama, from Las Vegas with some apprehension as I left it a bit late and all the big providers of tours were full. I should not have worried! The best thing I can do is just describe the experience. All questions and worries were sorted out on WhatsApp beforehand. To our surprise, a coach did not arrive, but a large air-conditioned car and we were the only ones on the trip; Mama said that up to 4 persons was typical, a few more at a pinch. Rather than eat in an expensive restaurant taking up valuable time, she planned a stop at a Walmart Subway so we could eat on the go – very sensible. Mama was very knowledgeable about the area and chatted all the way, with a short break for the wine-tasting half way. Not sure quite what we expected, but it was a very small additional charge ($7, I think), for a 5-glass taster with quite large portions, so we shared just one! There was food available. Mama had to drive a lot to get us to all the regions of Death Valley before it got dark. Dante’s Point, Badwater pool, Zabriskie Point, Artists Drive and more. I cannot fault her willingness to make the trip right for you. She looked after us well (hence the “Mama” name!), providing all the water we needed and anything else we asked for. I had been before, but I forgot how beautiful and full of colour Death Valley is. Mama asked us to wear bright coloured clothing because she was going to take photos for us. To my surprise there was no charge for this and she transferred hundreds of photos on the way back. Self-trained, using the highest spec iPhone, she got us to pose in different ways in different settings, using different camera techniques. The photo sessions were not just a tack-on, but an integral part of each place we visited. If you had your own wishes or just wanted photos of your own of just landscapes, then you just had to make it known, but, even though photo-shoots are not really out scene, we embraced the offer as we have never done this before. Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy so no star-watching and to be honest, it was a long day and we had to leave early the next day, so it suited us. I would conclude that Mama was very accommodating, photo-shoots were a major aspect and free, the party-size was small, star-gazing may not happen and the wine tasting was a nice extra break.

Will strongly recommend the tour guide Lankun for any tour you can possibly do.

I booked a Tour with Lankun (Mama). She was a great tour guide and photographer. We visited several places in the Death Valley where she did a lot of pictures for and of me. In General 300+ Images. I can highly recommend it, its totally worth the price.
