My morning Moab tour with Colin Young of Rock Light Photo Tours was a wonderful experience of views and images. We started the day seeing the sunrise at Dead Horse Point State Park. I had long wanted to visit this place and it lived up to all my expectations. Colin knew all the places to be and what time to be there to capture special images. And along with his expertise in the use of natural lighting, he guided me on how to optimally compose my photos at each shooting location. We also visited Canyonlands National Park during the tour. I had been there before and had heard that Mesa Arch looks really nice when backlit by the sun's early morning light. I didn't think that I would ever get to see that, but I did thanks to Colin and I have some great pictures as well! After other stops to see and photograph the switchbacks of the Shafer Trail and the White Rim in the Islands in the Sky District of Canyonlands, our morning adventure ended with photos of petroglyphs on cliffs along the Colorada River. Thank you Colin for helping me create such vivid and inspiring images.

Colin did a wonderful job showing us the sites for our tour. He was so patient as we walked to the different sites. He also helped me with the settings on my camera.

My husband and I booked a sunrise photo shoot with Colin. I was the one taking pictures and my husband was an "extra". It was lots of fun and very informational. He took us to places we would have never found on our own. Colin initially helped me get my camera set up. Then he recommended camera settings and gave composition tips for each shot. He was always on hand to answer questions and make additional recommendations. Colin was very knowledgeable about the area and we talked about other locations in Utah we would like to explore with his help in the future. We hope to make it back someday! It was a very special experience and we brought home the worlds best souvenirs. Beautiful photos suitable for framing!

This was a great tour and Colin was a great host. I learned a few new techniques from Colin and he took us to some great locations to photograph

My friend and I finally were able to vacation together after two years, but she is still recovering from foot surgery so any tour with "XTREME" in the name was off the table. I thankfully found Rock Light Photo Tours! My friend and I booked the sunrise photography tour which included stops at Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point. On the morning of our original tour date it was raining hard with no plans of letting up for the rest of the day, so I reached out to Colin and he graciously offered to reschedule us for the next day. We met up the next morning while it was still very early and very dark and Colin drove us (and another guest) to our first destination while a second car followed. It all felt very safe, comfortable, and laid back. Although I did take digital and darkroom photography in university, my friend and I used our iPhones for this tour, while the other 3 guests on the tour had DSLR cameras. Colin was able to individually help all of us as needed, and pointed out all of the best photo spots at each location. We never felt rushed but were also able to visit several areas and get amazing shots I probably would have never gotten on my own! I have easily over 100 photos to go through and edit, and am so happy we did this tour. We got back to town before noon so still had plenty of the day left. I absolutely would recommend this tour for photography enthusiasts!

Really enjoyed the photography tour with Colin. He identified great photo shoot locations and had great tips on photo composition and angles that were an awesome lesson for a beginner like me. I look forward to returning to the area and taking the tour again. I highly recommend this tour with Colin.

It was a great experience. Colin really helped in utilization of light to capture the beauty of the scene in your picture. He took us to great locations and took the time to help us understand how to compose the shot. I would highly recommend anyone interested in improving their photography skills to use Colin D. Young and book an experience.
