Founded in 1976, The Miami Design Preservation League has proudly offered guided walking tours of The Art Deco District for over 40 years. All Proceeds go towards supporting preservation. Visitors are introduced to the history, architecture, and preservation efforts of Miami Beach. Tour ticket includes free admission to the Art Deco Museum and Gift Shop. There are a limited amount of tickets available for each tour, so early bookings are encouraged . Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure for check-in.

I recently took an Art Deco tour with the Miami Design Preservation League, guided by Missy. She was fantastic—engaging and approachable, making the tour enjoyable for everyone, not just architecture buffs. Missy’s passion and knowledge really shone through, and she explained things in an easy-to-understand way without oversimplifying. I enjoyed it so much that I plan to go on more tours with different guides, as each one showcases different buildings and stories. If you’re in Miami, I highly recommend this tour and especially Missy as your guide.

I was a first-time visitor to Miami and this was a highlight for my weekend visit as a non-beachgoer. The tour guide was incredibly informative. I learned a lot of history about the area, and how that helped shape architecture and design, as well as about the different styles. Fascinating information on what to look for and learn from the designs. Also enjoyed hearing about preservation efforts. Thoroughly enjoable way to experience South Beach.

Julie is a very vivid and knowledgable tourguide. She takes care of technical problems and of the weather conditions. We did a 120 minutes tour at 10:30am. Particularly interesting was to go into inside of some of the buildings.

This tour was amazing. Julie our highly enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide explained history of this vibrant neighborhood. Not only architecture but also stories and many little details that she pointed out. 2 hours went by in no time. We learned via inside and outside views about the many buildings and their stories. My boyfriend and I were visiting family in Miami and we decided to go on this tour. As former art & architecture students and lovers of art deco, we were excited. The tour did not disappoint! Julie was an excellent tour guide and person to be around throughout the incredibly hot summer day. Every tour she does is slightly different as she gauges her audience and their interests prior to beginning the tour. She was a delight! Loved hearing about the history of Miami Beach and its establishment, something I never knew even being born and raised in the city. Would recommend to out-of-towners and history buffs!

Our tour guide was great -- so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There are many interesting buildings to view in a short walking distance. Allow for 15-30 minutes to check out the museum also. The only disappointment was that the gift shop had generic Miami souvenirs rather than art deco items.

We are from Australia and we had always wanted to come and visit Miami South Beach – mainly for the wonderful Art Deco architecture. So this tour was an essential part of our trip. Our tour guide, Damian, was very knowledgeable about the history and the architecture of South Beach and he had some great stories to tell about some of the buildings. We were pleased that we went inside some of the buildings too, so we could enjoy and find out about the special design features of each place. Our group was quite large, which made it hard to squeeze into some areas, but it was good that Damian had an audio system so we could hear him clearly. It was quite a long tour (2.5 hours), mostly standing and walking, so I would only recommend it to people who are mobile and not infirm.
