I live in Utah and get to play in its National Parks all the time. I wanted to get two geocaches in Cataract Canyon for the longest time. Rafting through the canyon requires permitting and support that is really hard to do privately. One cache required finding at low water. Scheduling a trip during shoulder season was tough. I'd had the trip cancelled three times with another company because no one else signed up. NAVTEC worked with me to find a trip that was likely to go. Ironically that weekend worked with the schedule of a friend who I'd been asking to go with me since the idea's inception. We arrived at the NAVTEC office on the morning of the trip and met our guide Josh. We chatted about our caching goals. He was optimistic it could be done. When we met our raftmate we found she was equally up for the fun. The first day was a lovely trip across the flat water with a few hikes. I was glad to have been on the motorized raft as I would have been bored silly paddling that much flat water. Camp was beautiful. Even Mother Nature cooperated. Josh fed us well. He even taught us how to make cool tortilla cones to hold our meals. The second day was the white water. Since it was shoulder season, the water was low and the rapids not as large. I did learn one advantage of being in a motorized raft, the same rapid can be done multiple times! That was fun! We successfully got both caches. One took Josh's geology knowledge as well as just getting us there. Overall it was a very pleasant trip. All the stars truly aligned. Without the caches I probably never would have done a Cataract Canyon raft trip. NAVTEC and Josh made me glad I did.

We had a great time on our rafting trip. We went in October so the water was quite calm. I guess this tour allowed us to be a little lazy because the guide did the rowing. He did let people row if they wanted to. The views were beautiful, we saw an eagle pair, and we only got a little wet. It was a nice way to spend a morning on the Colorado River.

The guides were great we had Carter. I would give a higher star but communication wasn’t the greatest. We were not told that’s there 2 different types of boats we probably wouldn’t have went. There’s an oar and a paddle. I paid for paddle but the other family who was picked up first picked what they wanted so we didn’t have an option. The list of things needed for the trip definitely needs to be updated. Food was good no lemonade as offered on website. Transportation was not great no air and broken windshield. Overall like I said the guides were great and we did have a good experience. The little shop they take you to is super cute.

Awesome balance of relaxing on the float part of the trip with an adrenaline rush through the rapids. Competent and friendly guides helped us feel safe, relaxed, and taught us so many things about the canyons, as well as cooked for us! Meals were delicious! One tip--less is more when packing! Take the trip! Its an awesome adventure!

We did the 4-day, 3-night Cataract Canyon rafting adventure to celebrate my 50th birthday with my family. We were a party of 9, including 3 teenagers and my 12-year old son as well as my 72-year old Mom. The trip was amazing. Our guides gauged the group and varied the hikes and other activities. We enjoyed the food and the education provided by our 3 guides, who were all talented professionals.

It was an excellent time, even better than expected. Brian was our guide. He made sure it was fun every minute. The scenery is incredible and those rapids are sooo fun!

I was excited to book this trip and willing to spend the extra money as this is pricier than others I’ve seen. However when I asked questions “why pricier than others?” “How many miles from drop off point?” “What do people do for 11 hours rafting + 3 hours shuttle back if dinner is not included?” “You mention it’s 4-5 level rapids and we’ve never done this before. My nephew is 13 would this be appropriate?” (Answer: “hm. Idk. I would think so. It’s just a matter of holding on”) the person on the phone could not answer any questions and stated anyone who might be able to answer wouldn’t be available for a few days. Then since I received an email stating 24 hours cancellation I even offered to make the reservation anyway trusting I would get satisfactory answers. The person then said no that wasn’t correct - the person who responded as misinformed- and a week notice was required. Since it’s a week out today, and so many gaps in information- I will go elsewhere. Very surprised in the level of customer service given the cost of this trip.

The front office was very easy to work with. There were some issues on my end and they were very flexible until the issues were resolved. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment was well kept and the wet suits provided were very much appreciated!

We went with OARS on their 4 day trip and love that company! The food was superb and the gear was great! It was high flow, but we felt very safe. It’s 3 days of mostly smooth water with a big day of rapids.

We had an incredible amazing day on the river. We brought 7 people and were in 2 boats. Brian Martinez was our captain and he puts on an awesome show as a trip leader, boat driver and guide. Brian really brings the energy to the trip with great passion and history. Austin was our other boat’s captain and showed the rest of our crew an amazing great time. We all were overwhelmed with the endless big water and enjoyed every minute of our day. It is an expensive weekend and worth every penny of it!! NAVTEC really takes care of their customers!
