Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park

(Pass by)

As you pass through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and get some magnificent views looking out over Loch Lomond as you pass through the Highland Boundary Fault Line. This is the magical moment you officially enter the grand Scottish Highlands and gain a sense of what the rugged mountainous landscape is really like.

West Highland Way

You’ll then get out for a beautiful short hike along Scotland premier walking route, the West Highland Way as we make our way towards a lovely small lochan (small lake). It’s believed King Robert the Bruce threw his sword in this lochan to lighten his load, as he was trying to escape the onslaught from a surprise ambush by the MacDougal’s of Lorne. This battle is known as the Battle of Dail Righ and the battle ground is not far from where you’ll be walking.

Buachaille Etive Mor

(Pass by)

You’ll continue towards Glencoe where on the south of the entrance to the Glen, you’ll see the grandeur of Buachaille Etive Mor, the pyramid shaped mountain stands proudly guarding the entrance to Glencoe and is known by its Gaelic translation as the Great Herdsman.

Glencoe

Now is the time to experience one of the most gorgeous locations to be found anywhere in Scotland, the rugged, dramatic land of Glencoe. This alluring landscape captures the imagination of almost anyone who travels through the Glen, and you’ve likely saw it before, as the seductive beauty of Glencoe and the surrounding area has featured in many movies and T.V shows, such as, Outlander, Harry Potter, Braveheart, Rob Roy, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Highlander and most recently in Netflix’s Outlaw King featuring Chris Pine.

Luss

As we head south to the lowlands, we visit the pretty conservation village of Luss on the western shore of Loch Lomond. Luss has been home to many since the medieval times, although most of the current village dates from the 18th and 19th centuries, having been developed to house local workers from nearby slate quarries. The village became the setting for the successful TV soap High Road which undoubtedly contributed to its popularity during the 1980s and 1990s.

Cat and Lauren were great tour guides. This is one of the best tours I have been on. It did not feel rushed. It was a great experience to visit various places on the tour. I recommend this tour. Be prepared for some walking and enjoyment of amazing views.

We chose this tour, not only because we would see a lot of sites over the course of a 10 hour day but also because of the small group (only 8 people). Our tour guide, James, was fantastic. James was good at describing historical facts as well as explaining the significance of the particular event. The scenery we saw was breathtaking. We would recommend this tour

We had a great time on this tour and the weather broke to turn into a beautiful day in Glencoe. Lauren is a great tour guide and took us to several locations for incredible photos. Highly recommend!!

Our guide Derek was really friendly and knowledgeable. We started with an ice breaker where we got to know each other and as it was just two of us it made us feel comfortable. Shortly after he started telling us different facts about Scottish history of places we were driving past or visiting. We were interested on nature surrounding our hiking path and our guide knew pretty much everything about it. This trip was amazing and opened up our minds to Scotland; we really recommended it.

AMAZING!!! It’s a long day but so much to see and our tour guide Derek was the best. It’s a must do tour… you won’t regret it! If you can request a guide be sure to request Derek. * These small tours are the best because they only take 8 per group making it a more personal experience.
