I loved all the books reading them to children. The story line is confusing at first after the very rude hustle and bustle into the theatre. Do not like security guards putting hands in to empty back pack. I know this is security but he has a long stick torch to do this, also with out gloves. The show is a bit drawn out and taking a friend with no knowledge of Harry Potter really put a damper on things as I could see nothing made sense. The play should stand in its own and it doesn’t. Lots of sections really dragged. The magic pieces wonderful, the movement between pieces excellent and the props amazing. This story could be shorten by an hour and some of the dialogues dropped as they are not done well. I have given this a three stars because I love the Harry Potter stories. The story line on this could be outstanding, need some work not engaging!

The show was great - just what you would expect. It moved fast, so the 3 1/2 hours didn’t seem long for the story. It’s not a musical, so there are no musical numbers to slow it down. The special effects were impressive - a lot of “how’d they do that?” moments. The story was well done, if a little ruched. You can see how this was 2 shows originally.

What a great show! The seats are very tight and uncomfortable, and considering its 3.5 hours, the second half of the show felt a little slow to me...but the effects and acting were top-notch, so if you're a Harry Potter fan definitely check this out when you're in NYC!

Worst experience so far. Theater let in late audience attendees at least half an hour into the performance. Theater employees using flashlights showing patrons to wrong seats during show. Lackluster performance. We paid full price for orchestra tickets and not worth it!

The show and performance was amazing! It was a highlight of our trip. The audience needed a lesson on basic theater etiquette. I had a teenage who is not a theater person who was even frustrated by the people around us. A younger boy and parent several rows up kept taking out his phone and recording the show, which is announced several times that it is not allowed. The ushure came multiple times with his flashlight to shine on them and tell them to stop. The parent finally took them out at the end. The young adult next to us got up during both the 1st and 2nd half, but had so many bags it was extremely loud. The 2nd half was just 10-15 minutes into the performance to get her water bottle filled. Then was asking the person next to her what she missed.

We are two adults who have personally read all the Harry Potter books, have read the books to our children and own all the dvd’s in the 7 book series. So one can quite confidently say that we are absolute fans! But what a disappointment Harry Potter & the Cursed Child was! It took some adjusting to the characters, but that would have been inconsequential had the acting been at the very least ‘good’ instead of just ‘ok’. There was a lot of shouting & screeching at each other, and at times lines rattled off at max speed that we could hardly follow the story. The story line was also not that gripping either. Sadly, in-spite of having paid over $200 for our tickets, we sadly ended up leaving the show at the intermission break.

There were some terrific effects and lighting, the acting, dancing, and singing were spot on and entertaining, and the storyline kept our attention even though we hadn't been exposed to Harry Potter for a few years. There were many times when the real Harry Potter fans got inside jokes that were obviously really funny for those in the know, so I think any HP fan will appreciate the show very well. For us, one of the actors that stood out was Moaning Myrtle, who only had a small part but her energy brought the whole scene to life. The cast was fantastic, and we enjoyed the show in spite of being a little rusty on the Harry Potter series.

We went to matinee show on Sunday. Got our tickets last minute, so they were under $100, but the 6 of us were able to sit together. It was in dress circle section. The teens loved it since they are potter fans, but I would like more music. Not bad for the price.

This show was epic! We went as a family of three, my husband, 9 year old and myself. We were visiting New York from New Zealand and wanted to see a show on Broadway. I chose this as my son and I have read the books and seen the movies. This show was way beyond our expectations. The set and special effects were next level. We still talk about some of the visual effects that we're not sure how they were accomplished. I wasn't sure how well my son would cope with a show so long but he was as captivated as us adults. Something that surprised us was the entire theater was fitted out with Harry Potter - from carpet to carvings on the walls. The acting was very good, particularly the actor that played Scorpius Malfoy. I would recommend seeing this to anyone - whether they have read/seen Harry Potter or not.

The magic and surprises stole the show. Had a great time. Fun for the whole family. The actors were outstanding and I enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommended.
