Very enlightening and thought provoking tour. The Whitney plantation efforts to preserve the record of a horrible time in our history must be applauded and supported. Our guide was a great ambassador, extremely knowledgeable and hilarious.

Powerful. The beginning of the tour was indoors and I didn't like the use of the word: slaves instead of people or enslaved people. The shift from Slavic people being slaves to chattel slavery was violent and horrific. The tour didn't really capture this. Otherwise, the plantation was beautiful and incredibly sad. The tutorials were very well done. I learned a lot. I highly recommend every person and student visit to never repeat this dreadful history. Also the bookshop is great.

The sculptures and the slave housing. Excellent audio guide. Will stay with me a long time. Everyone should take this tour.

Incredibly important history. The Whitney Plantation does an exceptional job at to pay tribute to the many persons who suffered through slavery. Packed with personal narratives and general informative history of an overshadowed population, the Whitney Plantation really does bring light and dignity to those who would otherwise be forgotten.

Edward was a great driver and had fun commentary on the trip over and back and made time for stops for other passby photos of sites. The tour is self was very informative. I was appreciative of the various perspectives of historians and lived experiences of those enslaved. I wish there was more time to play the audio and then pause to reflect and process the content. The reading portion of the tour could be better curated as it was tough to fit it all in within a limited time if required. As well the headphones could be better with a fit and audio, as sometimes it was hard to hear if the fit wasn’t perfect, not turned up all the way or other guided tours were happening around me. A plus, I liked that they have devices as that saved my phone battery.

Edward was great and informative. The plantation is a must see! It has an interesting history and is well kept. It’s authentic and tells you exactly how it really was during the time period.

I stayed at the Le Meridian in New Orleans. I booked a bus tour to Oak Alley and Whitney Plantation. I love the fact that I received a courtesy call informing me the driver was in route. The ride was great the driver even gave us a complementary tour while driving us to the plantation. He was very knowledgeable about New Orleans. I would highly recommend booking Legendary Tours for your transportation.
