The Shepherd of the Hills

During the 1800's, the Ozark hills were wild and untamed. Crime was rampant and law enforcement had a difficult time. Eventually, a group formed to help law-abiding citizens. Soon enough, this group became so powerful they were bending the laws for their own gain and they became worse than the criminals they originally formed to fight against.  This two-hour long production features a shoot-out, the actual burning of a log cabin, a mystery, a love story, and a moral message that is as true today as it was a century ago. You will be introduced to fascinating characters as they arrive on wagons or horseback including the pillar of the community, Old Matt as well his son, Young Matt. Other characters include beautiful Sammy Lane, villain Wash Gibbs, the mysterious Shepherd, and the vigilante Baldknobber gang.

A timeless story about the history of the area and the folks that formed the area. It’s exciting, funny and poignant. The actors and staff are top notch and know their craft well.

Excellent set. With exception of Dad, the acting was on the level of a high school play. Trams were unsafe. Make better use of your time.

The entire event was fantastic-from the ride down into the forest from the amazing show (the barn is set on fire!) the entire play was superb! We enjoyed the popcorn too. Wonderful family event for the entire family ❤️ A must see!

I didn't enjoy at all. My wife had read the book that the drama was based on and she liked it. Besides not being able to understand some of the actors, drama was cut short because of possible rain approaching. Only reason a 3 star is because wife enjoyed the part she saw. She waited 2 years for our return to see it

We had a wonderful experience. The set and atmosphere were splendid. We loved the interaction with those who preformed. Definitely worth checking out at least 1 time.

A very well done re-enactment of the book by Harold Bell Wright. The cast was friendly, professional. The storyline was very well adhered to in spite of the limitations imposed by a stage at a single location.

Great family show with our kids and grands ,they all loved it even the 6 year old ,the intermission with the square dancing was fun for all ,I loved the respect for veterans and the flag of the USA ..I had seen it years ago and have read the book and would come again ,it is a classic !

Do yourself a huge favor and skip the dinner. The food was very bland, barbecue sauce had no flavor and we were rushed to eat. My mother has a medical issue and can't stand for long periods. People were crowding the door so we had to wait for them to get seated making us the last ones in. We were also the last to be served and in 20 minutes we were told very forcefully and unapologetically that we had to leave so they could seat and serve the next group. We weren't asked, it was a command and rudely stated. Ruined the remainder of the evening for us. I'll never go back or recommend it to anyone.

Shepherd of the Hills Drama is always fun. We have seen it several times. Some of the actors have been doing the show many years. I have read the book so the play is more interesting to me.

We have been to Branson many times and never had seen the Outdoor Drama. We bought our tickets at the 2for1 purple building and it included pre-show and dinner. The pre show entertainment was excellent. The Goldwing Express are very talented. Servers were good and trying to go as fast as they could to get people their food. Most of the food was not good. The roll was the best part and dessert was good. I like BBQ but everything tasted very smokey. We have ate here for dinner shows in the past and they were very good. The outdoor show was a one time experience for us. Hearing the story was good and the actors did a great job especially in 100 degree heat. The show did drag on a bit but the second half was much better. Their veteran and USA tribute at the beginning was very good. It was disturbing to see one whole row that would not rise for the veterans, the flag, the anthem, or partipate in the prayer. It really surprised me. I say try the show at least once, get 2 for 1 tickets, skip the meal, and don't go on a 100 degree evening.
